Praises
and Prayers from Greg and Barb Van Schoyck with
HAFF, Bohoc, Haiti
Dear
Friends,
We
want you all to know how blessed and encouraged we
are by your partnership with us as we serve the
Lord with HAFF in Bohoc, Haiti. You mean so
much to us, and we thank you from the bottom of
our hearts for all that you do to support our
family and the HAFF ministry. We wanted to
give you a brief praise and prayer report.
We are in the States at the moment and plan
to return to Haiti at the end of this
month.
*Many
of our students at HAFF's school received
wonderful results on their national exams this
summer. In fact, 21 out of 23 of our 13th
graders passed on the first try, an amazing feat!
*In
spite of huge economic hardship because of
inflation and skyrocketing food costs, the
Haitians in our area continue to cling to the Lord
and trust in Him for their daily bread. In
the church we attend in Haiti attendance has been
up, and we praise the Lord for His provision of
grace.
*Gabi
and Zach are both doing well. Gabi graduated
from Covenant College in May with a degree in
Community Development. She was blessed to
receive a Fulbright Fellowship and is now in Hong
Kong for 11 months serving as an English Teaching
Assistant at the Hong Kong Institute for
Education. She seems to be adapting well and
thriving on the experience! Zach is now in
his third year at Georgia Tech in mechanical
engineering and is enjoying getting settled in
with his classes and activities. We praise
the Lord for God's grace on their
lives.
*Please
pray for the Haitians' endurance and God's
sustaining Hand as they "pass through the
waters" of this difficult time. We just
received a report about the results of the
hurricanes that have passed over Haiti.
While our area is somewhat protected from
the high winds by the mountains that surround the
Plateau where we serve, they are receiving huge
amounts of rain at the moment. Many of the
corn crops failed this summer due to lack of rain;
now it is reported by one of our key Haitian staff
members that the ones that did survive have been
destroyed by the rains. Hunger is very real
in Haiti right now.
*Please
pray for the new school year that will be starting
soon, that HAFF's ministry to the 260+ 7th-13th
graders will be fruitful and that all that takes
place on the campus will glorify God and point
people to Christ.
Thank
you again, dear ones, for your faithful support.
May God continue to bless and keep you
all.
